10 Crosby Derek Lam Spring Summer 2013 New York Fashion Week
The Derek Lam diffusion line used a BLOGGER for their Spring 2013 lookbook! How amazing is that? Well the press and other bloggers are having a heyday with the news which is an accomplishment for the blogger Emily Weiss as well as all blog-kind. Also besides modelling for the lookbook she also styled the pieces so she is a one stop shop for the likes of 10 Crosby Derek Lam.
The collection was a smattering of cowboy inspired pieces that included leather jackets and country dancing shirts with the intricate yoke detailing along the tops of the shoulders and around the front and down the back. Why Derek Lam decided to continue down the path of the cowgirl remains a mystery other than to say it has become an adoptive element in many of the 10 Crosby collections.
Loose blousy shirts blew in the wind but were nipped in at the waist as they were tucked into high waisted denim and leather pants. The aesthetic is a definite draw back to the 70’s but the feel is cool casual and trending. Think back to the Earth ways of life, with linens and soft sheer materials, that i the feeling and look of the Derek Lam diffusion colection.
A thick blue and white stripe pattern is imprinted on many of the shirts implying that the western theme is a mega ternd. The thing is… there were no other shows thus far that showed the western influence. So where does that leave the collection?
Was the collection as good as previous years? The truth is… it wasn’t.
