LG Fashion Week by L’Oreal Paris in Toronto was a true celebration of Canadian born and raised talent. And although these talents may have moved on to more lucrative pastures, they always come home to say thank-you.
The themes of this year’s week was Work It, The Business of Fashion, and work it they did. With an opening show from Canadian luxury retailer, Holt Renfrew we saw the fun and flirty to the business chic designs all in one show. Featuring garments from Canadian designers such as Todd Lynn, Pink Tartan, Denis Gagnon, and Wings & Horn. Showing garments to accommodate the Canadian fall and winter weather. Showcasing outerwear that is to die for. It was a wonderfully patriotic way to kickoff a week in the biggest fashion event in the country.
A tradition at LG Fashion Week is a media cocktail party put on my Holt Renfrew. This event gives the who’s who and the new who’s who the opportunity to network and celebrate the festivities to come. A special addition to this years party was a small runway show featuring 5 Canadian designers sold at Holt Renfrew: Greta Constantine, Philip Sparks, Mikhael Kale, Jeremy Laing and Denis Gagnon.
Pink Tartan was the bell of the ball for the week. Kimberly Newport-Mimran, Founder and Creative Director, presented her trademark clean femininity with an edge of military structure. The Pink Tartan fall collection made waves and received rave reviews. This is one jewel in the Canadian fashion crown.
Highlighting just a few of the exciting moments of a truly history making week in Canadian Fashion is a true honor. The Marquis of Fashion team is always honored and excited to introduce to you the Canadian designers and fashion pioneers that are helping put Canada on the fashion map.
