Fall 2013 2014 Is Teeming With Air-Mesh and Air-Knit and I Couldn’t Be Happier
Yesterday I had the privilege to visit the Pink Tartan showroom to see first hand the runway collection which I had the pleasure of viewing on the runway at World MasterCard Fashion Week last March. The show was all about an American Horror Story-esque woman who’s perfect exterior is only jarred by her delicate murderous rage interior. The cuts and embellishments were straight from the 60’s and… simply fashion savvy.
Fashion shows are almost always an inspirational setting for both silhouettes and new textiles for any given season. The problem is, the runway is rarely what we end up seeing in ready-to-wear brands. Either the material is too expensive for production or the silhouettes are just too wild for the store front. Either way I am painfully disappointed when this is the case. However… That wasn’t the case with the Pink Tartan Fall 2013 collection.
Of course some silhouettes were modified but as it turns out, the hemlines were made to sit at a “midi” length which is at mid-calf. The look was inspired by the new “new look” by Dior’s new designer Raf Simons. The advent of this silhouette was a cropped version of a full length skirt. This reinvented skirt is flattering and original.
A fabric that I was hoping would stay the same was a lightweight neoprene mesh or “air-mesh” material and sure enough there it was in the showroom. The super trendy material may be relevant right now for Fall 2013, but it’s transcendental when it comes to fashion forward women and their sense of style. This season was all about color and whether it was cobalt blue, evergreen, bubblegum pink or dark floral prints, the colors of Fall 2013 will fit beautifully into any wardrobe.
If you didn’t get a chance to see the show, I encourage you to take a look at it or… you can check out my review of the show here
