Some Surprising Misses at This Year’s Golden Globes
I wanted to start this 2014’s Golden Globe “Best and Worst” with a statement: All the actors looked amazing (those who put in effort (which again was seemingly everyone)) and I find it stupid that people use adjectives like “Horrific” or even “Ugly” to describe their looks. Horrific can only be used when Zombies eat Princess Leia’s face in an alternate universe’s Star Wars ending. And Ugly? Really that’s like throwing rocks at a puppy… you just don’t do it. If you find something not in line with what you find tasteful then say so but please… use the appropriate descriptors. Unless of course you’re talking about Paula Patton’s Stephane Rouland Couture dress… then the gloves are off!
WHAT WAS THAT SUGAR SCULPTURE TRYING TO LOOK LIKE??? TOILET PAPER!!??
Aside from a hot marshmallow mess I can’t be sure… It actually reminded me of fanciful cake decorators and I was SOOOOO hoping for the moment when the cake would fall and be obliterated into a million pieces. It was just way too much dress for one persons body. The dress was actually an alien mind probe reaching for her ear. Or perhaps it already took hold of her brain telling her to wear that dress? Well WHY else would she wear it?
Next on the chopping block was Sandra Bullock in Prabal Gurung. When I saw this dress I said “I feel like color blocking is out. Or at least it is right now this very second” I should have ended with “Thank you very much Sandra Bullock.” But honestly the dress was ill fitting around the bust and a little too full for her lean frame. Not to mention those Easter egg colors made me want to remind her it’s January.
Emma Watson is so cute and so adorable and I love her but that risky Dior Couture dress would only work at, Oh no wait, that wouldn’t work anywhere. Okay MAYBE the Met Ball but even then probably not. I can’t express how weirded out by it I was. It looked just okay from the front (not enough chest showing) but then the back was all “I’m a hooker look at me…” Just no. This look needed more dress and less pants.
I’m almost done with the axe just one more… And this’ll hurt me more than it’ll hurt her.
Watch me wake up in the middle of the night with an arrow through my heart. Jenifer Lawrence in Dior had one too many sausage twists in that Dior to look anywhere near as good as she could have. Those black ribbons were the ropes that held her back… they were the string that cinched her creases, the twist ties that tugged her pleats and the bindings that made her into… well… a barrel. She looked like a fluffy white barrel. I was so happy to see her win bla bla bla but wow that dress had some seriously odd movement to it.
What did everyone think of her new hair cut? Was it HORRIFFIC??? JK, it was totally Cute right?
On to The Winners!
Okay so my third Best Dressed vixen of the evening was none other than Olivia Wilde in Glittering Green Gucci and her sexy preggers ass! And Pregg-O It WAS!
The green sequin and bombshell everything just worked! Her ombre hair and adorable smile worked SO well together. I couldn’t stop watching her as she showcased her baby bump with a model mother’s prowess. Stunning!
Okay bad joke but Wilde was so ready to pop I thought the Golden Globe pre-flood was actually just her water breaking. No I didn’t actually think that and…
Yes I’m dumb :-/
Second best was so tough because both my top two best were SO good! In fact I’m going to call them both the best because they actually were both, perfect!
Okay so for my second Best Dressed look… Lupita Nyong’o in Ralph Lauren! I know everyone was making reference to Gwenyth’s white Tom Ford Look at last years Oscars but NO WAY this was totally different and in the absolute best color for her. It radiated like molten hot beauty whenever she was interviewed or wherever she posed for pics. The best for sure.
The Other Best Dressed Look went to Cate Blanchett in sexy black Armani Prive. I died when I saw her in this. It was the strong, beautiful, Galadriel we’ve all come to love. Yet her old Hollywood hair was brilliant and suited her amazingly well. I just love this woman! I’m also so glad she won Best Actress. What did you think of their decisions?
Also who was your best dressed? And perhaps more importantly who was your worst?
