You Wouldn’t Hit a Man Wearing Google Glasses Would You?
Let’s face it, the only people buying the Google Glass, are those with way too much money or massive techies who have to have all forms of tech before anyone else. Well since I’m neither of those things I’m going to wait. The price tag is way too high and the functionality is way to unimpressive. Anything Google Glass can do my cellphone can do better. Also it’s so encumbering. It looks like a you have a Motorola Dynatac Phone strapped to your head… Okay not quite but it’s large and distracting.
However, when the next gen of the Google Glass is delivered or even the third version… I’ll be all over it. Why? Because the price will drop significantly but more importantly the technology will accelerate to a point where you can actually do something with it worth doing rather than ask for directions or see what time it is in Singapore… all of which you can already do.
The whole prospect of the Google Glass is exciting as it is the first mainstream version of it’s kind and designers are hopping on board like Diane Von Furstenberg who has designed a feminine version for sale here on Net-a-Porter or this cool stylized version for men on Mr. Porter. Styles range from $1470.00 to $1800.00.
Don’t get me wrong if the opportunity arose to try it out I’d jump at the chance, but If I’m spending upwards of $1500 on a somewhat cool piece of technology that rests angrily on my face…it’s not gonna happen. $500… now we’re talking.
What do you guys think of Google Glass? Is there a designer out there that could design a cool looking version of the Google Glass that would make you drop the $1500.00 on it? What kind of technological advancements would you require it to do in order to drop the MSRP on it? I’m thinking a force field… expandable solar shield and not having to tether and wi-fi in order to use it… that annoys me. Also if it had a beer holder attached to it complete with twisty straw then we MAY be in business.
