Getting Ready for a Coffee Date…What to Wear
Now I know what you’re thinking, that is too formal for a coffee date! But I implore you to look beyond the stylish yet sleek Dolce and Gabbana mirrored shades, beyond the black D&G dress shirt with the “Brad” fit, and make your way to the fun accessories that make this outfit perfectly perfect for a fun coffee date. First off, your loudest accessory is your bag, so make sure it makes a statement. Something along the lines of “this is where I am right now.” My bag says “B*tch, I’m functional and expensive, so treat me well because I’m worth it.” Now picture that in a deer’s voice and bingo you just discovered my bags inner dialog.
Men, the belt is the closest accessory to the family jewels so make sure the buckle is prominent, sparkling, and of massive proportion. In fact the bigger, the better… I’m totally kidding. The belt should be sleek and carry an edge of style that compliments your own personal sense of fashion. The Dolce and Gabbaga (are you sensing a theme?) belt I am wearing has a cracked black leather strap that has a wash of brown in it. This makes the piece versatile and speaks volumes about my personality in its own subtle way.
The belt also helps to bring out the contrast within the shoe. A patent leather deerskin gradient Prada shoe says, I’m complicated and wordy but under all the high maintenance conditioning and moisturizing you’re going to have to put them/me through they/I look good on your feet/arm. A price you’re willing to pay no doubt.
Lastly the additional accessories tell a tale of tear-jerking times gone by and epic new adventures. Just the sort of thing that’ll drag anyone from their sedentary schedule and into a whirlwind of smooth coffee shop talk. The cuff, a relic really, a brand no longer produced purchased at a store that is no more. The Energie Gold cuff is a leather thing half seated in my past while creating waves in my style today. The piece has a special place in my heart.
The wallet chain was purchased also a while ago but is made to last. The clunky DG branded links are a hard pill to swallow but not for this label whoring funk monster. I slapped those chains on and ended up looking as rough as a biker. A biker with a Holt Renfrew card from American Express. Regardless, the rough rider inspiration was not lost and the rips in my tailored Diesel jeans reminded me of that, as they rip another inch every time I bend over to rub a scuff off my shoes.
It was the wash that grabbed my attention, and at the end of the day I think this look is not for the “faint of heart” and I use that term loosely. But if you can purse your lips and make a serious face then you are born for this outfit. If someone stops you and asks why you look like your in pain just say “Stones.” They’ll think Rolling Stones, you’ll know ‘stone washed denim’… although they may think bladder stones… okay better yet don’t make the face.
Just in case you didn’t get enough of the bag… HERE IT IS! again… yeah… I’m in love. So anyway this was a quick guide on how to dress for a coffee shop date, I hope you enjoyed, see you all later.
