I don’t talk a lot about myself on this blog (Yeah RIGHT!!!) but here is a list of the 5 most inspiring people in my life who motivate me to be a better, more stylish, more fantastic person.
The late Alexander McQueen
I have always thought of this man as the most incredible designer of all time and I absolutely thought he was an inspired, yet tortured soul. When I visited his store in Manhatten for the first time in 2005 I was overtaken with a feeling of unworthyness and of an intense need to be more connected to myself and my style. Who I was needed to shine through more and to do that I had to learn about who I was. Also I had to make a ton more money as there was this one of a kind hand pieced leather blazer that looked like an old map. Absolutely stunning… and $15,000.00 on sale. I think I would have transcended right there and then if I did pick it up but sadly even the sale price was out of reach at the time. I think it was at
that moment that I heard who I think was McQueen’s voice in the fitting room cleverly situated in the center of his fabulous store but he was unconditionally transfixed on his client in the change room. From what I could see the dress spread the entire length of the probably 10 foot around fitting room and through an opening I could see the edge of red carpet gown. black with black feathers speckled throughout the fabric like stars in the night sky. So Beautiful and So McQueen. What did the extravagant gown look like in full? Who was the dress for? Was it McQueen in the change room? Sadly I’ll never know.
Thank you Alexander McQueen for your inspiration, I I truly hope you haves found peace now.
The Craziest diva there is. I love her Hair, I love her Clothing, I love her style, I love what she supports, I love that she isn’t stupid, I love that she is Italian, I love the way she doesn’t speak directly to fans when they are in a GaGa induced mob, I love that she swears like a trucker, I love that she had the balls to wear a meat dress, I loved her on Ellen, I love her teeth, I love that she sings with people who make a video on Youtube video and it goes viral, I love that she got Beyonce to do some songs with her, I love that she treats everyone with respect, I just love her!
Thank you Lady GaGa for having the courage to wear fashion the way it is to be worn.
Who is sexier than this man? Am I right or am I right? Even after his used car ad (NOT ENDORSED (Obvi)) Tom has an impeccable image, a soft voice, and is a brilliant designer. Did I choke on the olive in my Martini when I found out he was gay? You bet your Prada’s I did. But when I found out he was married to Fashion Journalist Richard Buckley I said “well that just fits now doesn’t it”! I also want to point out that he has such glam style and it has truly only recently been explored with the launch of the TOM FORD line for women.
Thank you Tom Ford for being the hottest designer and being proud of it.
A Canadian fashion mogul who tells it like it is all over the world and holds nothing back. In the biz for well over 25 years Jeanne showed me at the age of 5 how to report on the most beautiful art in the world… Fashion. Something so universal and so widely perceived but the realm of fashion was what Becker brought to my T.V. every Saturday and my father and I would sit down and watch the beautiful shows from Milan to New York, London to Paris, and everywhere in between.
Thank you Jeanne Becker for allowing me to love Fashion with you.
Recent John Galliano drama aside… I loved this man’s designs. In his own collection both Men and women and for Christian Dior as well. He is truly inspired and a genius as well. I can’t imagine the face of fashion without his vast contributions and vision. Also I own more of his clothing than any other designer and that is saying something!
Thank you John Galliano for your divine vision.
