Our beloved John Galliano seems to be in more trouble as each day goes on. His arrest and accusation of February 24, 2011 in Paris was just the tip of the iceberg it seems.
A second woman has come forward and claimed that she was a victim of Galliano’s alleged anti-semitic fits. The woman claimed that on Oct. 9, at the same location she had a very similar experience with the talented designer. There have been eyewitnesses to the Oct. 9 accusations that confirm the woman’s story.
There has also been talk of a video taken by a cell phone of Galliano at the same location as both incidences, making racial slurs and comments such as, ‘I love Hitler.’ The video has been posted online by the Britain Sun. Whether this video is true or not, who knows but it is one more piece of an ugly looking puzzle.
- In the Video: After stating he loves Hitler and making the gassing remark, a woman is heard to say, ‘Oh my God’ before asking slurring Galliano if he had a problem. He said: “With you. You’re ugly.” Asked where he was from, he said: “Your a***hole.” The man who filmed his outburst told The Sun: “Galliano was sitting alone nursing his drink, when a few of us sat at the next table. “Galliano kept intruding, throwing in comments about us and what we were saying. We knew who he was. He’s instantly recognisable. “We were stunned by what Galliano was saying, but then he started making vile anti-Semitic comments. His words were disgusting. He made it clear the Italian girls weren’t welcome and should go home. This was pure racism.”
Can we at the Marquis just say that although we do Not in Any Way condone what was allegedly said, the man was A) drunk and B) being harassed C) HE IS HUMAN! and needs his privacy like anyone else.
It should be noted that even tItalian Vogue‘s Franca Sozzani took to her blog to defend the designer for his video-taped rant, stating that Galliano “was clearly provoked, and filmed, while obviously inebriated.” She also suggested that the woman who taped it might have done so for financial motives.
- “An explosion was more than probable when you add together the amount of alcohol Galliano had consumed and the provocations of the people speaking to him. Of course we condemn the extremely seriously racist content of what he said… We don’t want to go on an obsessive search for hidden motives, but perhaps behind this event are just some parvenus of journalistic scandal who, in our opinion, were waiting to have three minutes of video to sell to someone for a good deal more than 30 pieces of silver.”
- So what does this mean for our famed designer? Galliano has been said to have been considering pressing charges against the couple from the incident on February 24 for defamation. But as the stories and evidence keeps pouring in the outcome of this debacle is unknown.
- We hope that this all gets sorted out because one thing if for certain, the fashion world needs John Galliano.
