Harem pants to keep you cool
Another humid day in Toronto (which my skin and I love) and amongst finding the perfect air conditioning setting and determining the perfect patio beer… finding an outfit that’ll keep you relaxed, and cool throughout the day, but warm well into the night (as the winds pick up), is next to impossible. As my outdoor education teacher (bear of a man) once said, “dress in layers… or risk death!”
In the case of summer, all you’ll risk is overheating. But being prepared will not only minimize excess sweating, but maximize coolness… pun intended.
Try a lightweight cotton T-shirt and cotton below the knee harem pants as your base layer. Loose and breathable will not only look free-spirited but is the key to the functionality of both items. Pair with a slide or similar sandle topped off with a removable vest that can be thrown over top while you’re walking through a ravine with your main squeeze, or hell, use it as a blanket if you find the perfect lookout point. I personally like to toss it on after a couple ice cold pints and a few glasses of ice water during an increasingly chilly patio overlooking a busy walkway.
Got cabin fever? The heat from a camp fire can melt hearts and makes lasting memories… like the time I tried to burn a desk… but the paint was highly flammable… Like HIGHLY FLAMMABLE… the fire department may have shown up… what fun. But as hot as the fire gets, wind off the lake can get frosty. Layer up and keep the night going.
I am not one to brag about getting a deal, but… I would be doing you a disservice by not telling you about the pants I’m wearing. I got then on a shopping challenge between me and a box of wine made late one evening. I bet that I could get an entire outfit online ***that would look good AND would cost under $40 including shipping! Totally nailed it! Except that when the packages came rolling in months later I completely forgot what I ordered and it was a surprise when assless jocks came flying in one after the other… I swear I never ordered those…
