Best Dressed at the Met Ball 2014
This week we saw the 2014 Met Gala and all the super celebs in all their glory! I was impressed this year and saw a lot of epic looks surrounding the couturier Charles James and his beautiful dresses. Honestly, there are always a handful of duds in the box, but this Met Ball seemed to weed them out. At least all the train wrecks we’ve seen in the past. I only saw a small mini van crash and a few moped accidents that barely required an insurance claim.
I’ll start with my fav’s! Karolina Kurkova was by far my favorite in that sickeningly amazing Marchesa masterpiece. It was a gown worthy of her royal Highness (in her glory years) or fit for a world renowned model. There was nothing I’d change on this. I also have to commend her on walking up those stairs with a tent attached to your body! But all jokes aside the dress was insane!
Blake Lively looked killer in her Gucci Premiere gown all while having Ryan Reynolds on her arm. He was voted “Best Accessory” by Marquis of Fashion readers worldwide.
Charlize Theron always looks impeccable, but her style this red carpet season has been unmatched. This white and black Dior was tamed just barely by her black jacket worn stylishly over her shoulders. Yet another cape type look but she continues to blow us all away.
Now for the worst dressed of the Met Gala 2014
Flops… Nicole Richie in Donna Karan. The gown was pretty in it’s own wright, but the purple hair and ghost like figure within did nothing for that dress.
Kate Upton in Dolce and Gabbana was the bar wench serving up a few harsh shots of Jack Daniels in that saloon in Django.
Katie Holmes in Marchesa looked more Belle from Beauty and the beast than red carpet gala. I think even couturier Charles James would agree that this look lacked subtlety.
Who was your favorite? But more importantly… who was your least favorite?
