Lana Del Rey gets a bag named after her.
It is curious that Lana Del Rey got a bag named after her by the Mulberry fashion house so early in her career. She must have schmoozed with all the right people at that fashion house because this kind of honor is really something special and only comes around once in a lifetime and usuay only to stars who have not only made a huge impact in their field (whether it be Music, Modeling, Acting, etc.) or are used in advertising campaigns for the fashion house who designs the bag. Trick is to get in the ad campaigns you must first make a huge impact in your respected field (whether it be Music, Modeling, Acting, etc.).
Lana Del Rey has an awesome voice and has a bluesy style that commands attention and stands out from other stars in her age category. Unfortunately it seems this singer has already become a blip of the past and her record sales (which were quite disappointing) proved that. The question is… was it a smart move for Mulberry to take Lana Del Rey on so early in her career or should fashion houses choose icons who have proven themselves time and time again? I love the girl but I do question her place among the fashion elite.
Some other handbags that have been named after stars are most famously the Birkin, named after french singer/actress Jane Birkin, Grace Kelly was another one to inspire an Hermes bag… the Kelly (go figure). Ferragamo named a bag after Sofia Loren, Mulberry also named the Alexa bag after Alexa Chung, and probably the second most recognizable bag is the Stam by Marc Jacobs named after Canadian model Jessica Stam. Of all these bags I think my favorite would be the Stam… or the Birkin, but I also love the birkin style travel bag which is a lot larger and a bit more masculine.
At the end of the day I have to congratulate Lana Del Rey on scoring her very own namesake bag. I want one… I guess to get that I have to just puff up my lips a bit and smile like a doughnut.
