Narciso Rodriguez, Resort ’12
This resort collection was not only based off of art, it is art. Narciso Rodriguez created a collection that could very well be an art installation one day.
The pieces were all designed with layers in mind, layers of shapes creating a very different pattern and silhouette than what we are currently used to seeing. The collection used lacquered linen to create a shimmering fabric that was both functionable and completely fashionable because of the leather look.
The skirts were full and rounded and the jackets seemed to have a mind of their own as some danced with a bias cut material flitting out the back while others stayed slick to the body.
Rodriguez used artist Carmen Herrera as the inspiration for this collection and he made a bold decision to do so. These pieces are not for the fashion obvious but more for the fashionista that is both refined in her style and lives on the edge. The Narciso Rodriquez resort fashion collection bridges a world of bold, abstract, geometric shapes and soft feminine silhouettes.
At first I wasn’t sure what to think but now I am in like with collection. I cannot wait to see it out in public and how real fashionista’s style these pieces.
