Oscar de la Renta & Pablo Picasso
Oscar de la Renta has teamed up with Pablo Picasso to deliver a very dynamic collection for Resort 2012. Just when you thought that resort wear was all swimsuits and mini’s Oscar delivers a collection that is equal parts daywear to elegant suits you could wear to a very upscale patio meeting.
The patterns were from polka dot to white on black lines to silver on blush rose outline and of course the wild . Materials mostly consisted of silks, wools, and soft cottons. There were also pops of leather, radzmir, tweed, and of course the cardboard hats that were all through the collection delivering a Spanish flamenco feel.
The silhouettes were usually cut just above the knee and made use of an airy sleeveless shift dress. The balloon skirt made an appearance on a few looks (which we love!) and for evening the full length gowns took up the entire aisle but on the other end of that spectrum some were sleek and sexy fitted to the body. Flowing silk was used on the bottoms of gowns to create a slim waist and accented narrow thighs and svelte hips.
Oscar looked happy at the end of his show and I’m surprised the crowd didn’t give a standing ovation. I know I would have if I was present.
