Elevator Madness and New Gloves
What do you do when you are in an elevator with Matthew St. James? You WERK! I think he took 25 snapshots of me in the time it took to get from ground to the rooftop where we were going. I was quietly making my floor selection in the elevator when all of a sudden I could hear the shutter flapping and I just started moving to the rhythm of the flashes. Of course not being classically trained in dancing, or modelling for that matter, there were only a few that made the cut but I’m happy with them and decided to share.
I also wanted to regale you with this astounding tale of gloves that match my (now) vintage coat. I was walking through H&M and spotted the bin of faux leather gloves that they have every season. I picked them up and realized the inside was where the black “leather” was and the outside was made with a gorgeous monochromatic chevron pattern that matches my Dior coat. The colors anyway, the fabric on the coat is actually a small houndstooth but the mixing of patterns actually totally works!
Now for why it works… the prints themselves are quite different and have very different lines that just don’t intersect appropriately BUT. When you pair them together and the prints are of a similar consistency then you arrive at the crossroads of near-perfection and almost-illustrious. Then when I put them on together the air in the world smelled sweeter and that’s when you know the outfit works.
I may be over exaggerating a little but it’s true, when you put something on that just sings, you know it works. It may not work again but it just jives with everything at that moment. And in that moment in that elevator it seemed to work for me.
I wore a Dior coat, Dolce and Gabbana Dress Shirt, Draild Bow Tie (THAT I LOVE!!!), Gucci belt, Naked and Famous denim, and Gucci Loafers. Oh… and of course H&M gloves.
*Also no mascara was harmed in the making of this photo shoot.
