Looking Good in a Rush
I’m always late. I know, it’s a bad habit, but’s not ever intentional, for some reason, seemingly beyond my control, I’m always late. Thankfully I have a well stocked closet so grabbing clothes on the run is becoming less and less of a problem. This is what I call fashionable in a rush. With not a lot of time to think or put a GREAT outfit together and just enough to look and feel good before they turn down the lights and start the show. I grabbed a statement piece and planned everything around that. As you might of guessed from the title, I was late for a show in Toronto during World Mastercard Fashion Week. I made it just time to grab my seat as the lights were dimming and ended up looking half decent in the process.
Today’s Running to the Runway Consisted of:
- T-Shirt: Rolling Stones for Zara
- Jacket: Vintage YSL
- Pocket square: Duchamp
- Belt: Versace
- Pants: Marc Jacobs
- Boots: Prada
Tips for getting ready in a rush:
Hair: this is the biggest time thief when trying to get out the door.
- For short hair: My advice is to look at what direction your hair is naturally gravitating to. Don’t fight with it, just work with it, if parts are sticking out of place, tame them with hairspray. If all else fails, push it back or pull it forward. If it’s too short to slick it back, spray and run, mess it up and push it forward giving the whole sexy messy look.
- For long hair: Guys, pull it back and tie it. Girls, wrap it up in a bun and you’re done.
The trick here is to keep it simple and make it look like it was planned. Choose one color and work around it. In this case the red Marc Jacobs pants were the first thing I saw alongside the Rolling Stones top. Once you have the color work with monochromatics. Grey, black and white work with everything and if you have a piece with the your primary color selection in it. Grab it and go.
You’ll leave looking sharp and put together despite swearing under your breath that you’re not going to make it on time.
