Men’s Shoes That I Loved in 2012
So now that 2012 is nearing its end, I have an end of year cleaning goal and as I was going through the shoes and their boxes I made a fort… naturally, because I’m like a 5 year old. As I went through all my shoes, I was transcended into a world of memories where each step of every shoe brought back a memory of an event, or meeting some awesome fashion star, or a dinner party with friends, or… each shoe held memories that were stored in their fine Italian or French design. These sneakers had me walking down memory lane… (sorry I couldn’t resist).
Through the entire year I have to say my favorite shoes were the Gucci canvas printed high tops in brown with the Diamante print on them. Interesting historical note: the Diamante fabric was the original Gucci’s original signature fabric made in Florence in 1935. The shoes were actually not worn very often but still have a very special place in my heart. Mostly because I adore the style and print, but also because I remember wearing them when I heard the news that I was invited to New York Fashion Week. Which of course was a pivotal moment in my year, and life.
Other memories I hold in high regard while wearing my shoes are looking desperately all over town for a patent leather moisturising spray when I first noticed my Gucci patent leather loafers were cracking. I sadly didn’t make it in time to completely stop the cracking but… I continue to wear them anyway. They are literally my favorite shoes.
The moment when I was so thrilled with the Diamante printed high tops that I got a similar style in the Guccissima canvas. I know it sounds like all I buy are Gucci shoes but that’s simply not the case. I love Prada, Paul Smith, YSL, Jimmy Choo, Ferragamo, Converse, Prada, Giuseppe Zanotti, Louis Vuitton, Christian Louboutin, Rick Owens and… did I mention Prada?
Which are your favorite brands?
Here are a few of my favorite designs throughout the last year.
Yes that’s horse hair… and yes, that’s metal. OBSESSED!
