Design sweetheart, Thakoon, is putting his most charitable foot forward. The designer has made a red and blue plaid limited edition scarf and has announced that 100% of the sales will go to UNICEF.
The scarves will sell for $250.00 each, and are sure to bring in a healthy amount of money seeing as Thakoon’s garments usually fly off the rack, like a bat out of hell. The proceeds that UNICEF will receive will go towards efforts to relieve the children and families in Africa living in famine. The drought that has hit Africa, especially Somalia, has made international headlines, and many stars and A-list celebrities have been lending their hand to do what can be done to help the people in Africa. Reports are saying that some 29,000 + children have died in the region since the famine began.
Thakoon said gave this statement regarding the current situation in Somalia and motivation for the limited-edition scarves:
- “I know we have a lot of problems out there, but this one involves lives, especially children’s lives…It’s something we can all prevent, and we all should. We all should be a little bit more aware of the world we live in, of people.”
