Tips on wearing green
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Unless you are a sadist and enjoy getting pinched, throw on some green today or prepare for a pinch parade!
But is green for everyone? In a word… yes. But it really depends on the shade of green that you decide to wear. Lighter skin tones should stick with the darker shades of green as these will compliment you as a lighter shade will wash you out. People with olive skin tones are in luck because nearly every shade of green will look great on your skin and will likely bring out your eyes. Anyone with a sparkle of red in their skin already knows that green is your friend especially the emerald colors. Dark skin tones can wear all colors period and green is no exception. In fact the darker your skin tone the more vibrant the green should be.
After you have decided which green is right for you it is time to select your article of greenery. Are you up for wearing a hat? A green hat is probably difficult to find bu since hats are SO in this spring season it is advised that you pick up a cute chapeau in a green that suits and sit back as the compliments come rolling in. One other point to be aware of in the hat department is that if the brim of the hat is close to your eyes expect some long lingering stares because your natural color will be enhanced significantly especially for those with lighter eyes.
Any other accessories are a good idea. handbags, shoes, belts, and bangles can all be green as well. This adds that pop of green to your outfit even if you don’t feel confident actually wearing green as a form of clothing.
If you are a brave soul, I recommend going all green today. If the weather permits a green scarf dress would be ideal. A great perk to wearing this style of dress is that it shows off a lot of un-pincheable skin to the Paddy’s Day green police. Kind of a “ha ha” to all those trigger happy pinchers. But if a scarf dress isn’t for you a cute top with a boat neck or an off the shoulder blouse in spring green is very fitting.
As for the bottom half of your green wardrobe go for a metallic color, something nude, blue, or of course you could always add more green. I am a big fan of using different shades of green when attempting the green on green styling but if you have a suit and want to show off your perfect Paddy’s day pride then go for it!
At the end of the day a good guide would be to just wear green. Just one thing that is green, Just make sure people can see it. None of this “My underwear are green” because then I’m going to force you to show me!
