Can I Wear White After Labor Day?
If there is one thing I can’t wrap my head around it’s silly fashion rules that make no sense and are antiquated beyond belief! I think the person who first said it knew nothing of anything and was likely a fashion toilet. Basically wearing white after labor day, or any Monday of any month is completely acceptable and I would go so far as to say encouraged by me because white symbolizes a lot when worn. For example that you’re not a slob, that you take more time to style your outfit, and that you are a strong individual who breaks down ridiculous bureaucratic bullsh*t such as “not wearing white after Labor Day.”
I decided to throw on this white Dior Homme jacket I picked up awhile ago today because it was rainy and gloomy and I said, “forget you ‘sad weather'” and paired it with a pair of black denim (Naked and Famous), a white dress shirt with lilac stripes (Paul Smith), black boots (Prada), Belt (Louis Vuitton), and a black skinny tie (Burberry). The jacket is a bit of a loose cannon with its bad-boy strings and gathered back so I thought I would also keep the roughness going with my somewhat unruly eyebrows and messy hair.
Just kidding, my eyebrows are perfect. But messy hair totally made this look, at least that’s what my stylist/photographer/hubby said.
Lastly I wanted to quickly touch on the importance of a wide umbrella. I was walking out today with my white dior jacket and low and behold it started raining. Thank Christopher Bailey I brought my Burberry umbrella because when rain drips off rooftops and onto white, it leaves marks so if you plan on wearing white, especially a white coat, bring an umbrella. I suppose conversely you could also wear a clear plastic overcoat which is both on trend and fun to put on.
Tomorrow… Vajazzling! Stay tuned!
