World Pride in Toronto Canada
So there I am, a gay man among nearly three million people (or more) in and around me lifting their arms and voices to cheer and celebrate equality. What an intense week of culture, acceptance and … of course, parties! The whole thing for me started on Thursday where I got to visit an event called 10X10 Photography Project where ten photographers took photos of ten artists (all queer). The event was held at the Gladstone and brought out an awesome eclectic group of people.
Friday was the opening of West Bar and which was hosted by one of my fav TO bloggers FashioNights and of course Gay Pride Week. The champagne was flowing as more and more fashion focused party people showed up to celebrate World Pride 2014. It was nice seeing everyone before we jetted off to our next event which was seeing the Ru Paul’s Drag diva’s final four contestants perform at the green space party. With no cover charge the place was packed and the queens belted it out. Adore Delano was by far the crowd favourite as she actually crowd surfed and sang her own music. What an insane bitch! Love her!
The rest of pride was a blur up until the morning of the parade on Sunday (which was also the day I chalked my hair pink)! Now I’ve been to a lot of parade’s, but never one that was almost 6 hours long and never armed with tequila filled water guns! OMG BEST! Okay so I didn’t see all of the parade… in fact, I only saw about 45 minutes of it, but if I’d stayed there all day, I would have missed the other crazy parties (of which there were many).
All in all, the biggest and best pride ever. A huge thanks to my hubby for trooping it out and taking my photos even though he was trying to have fun with the rest of us. Also to all the people who came out to Church Street and World Pride 2014 in Toronto to support LGBTQ2+ people. I certainly felt the love this past week.
Also a huge thanks to god who made a double rainbow on the closing day of Gay Pride. Can I get an Amen… I think we just did.
