This years Yohji Yamamoto Spring RTW show in Paris was one of triumph and inspiration. The Tokyo born designer brought a collection that was unique featuring bold floral prints and wonderful shapes – a surprising contrast to his last year’s collection.
The collection was inspired by the concept of control and the human journey to obtain control even with knowing that this is an unattainable feat in life. Control is exactly what Yamamoto has achieved. The shapes of the garments were flawless and looked effortless. This was a collection that for me, bordered couture. I can only describe this bohemian-gothic-chic at its absolute finest.
The first garments on the runway were a lovely mix of dark, full-body sillouhetes that were layered, draped, billowed, and uneven in all the perfect places. The brilliance of this collection came when the bold floral prints began to be woven into the pieces in the most genius way. From being used as scarves, to elegant leggings. It was the cocktail of the sinister clothing meets the illumination of the floral prints that makes this collection a piece of heaven on the runway. It was as if Lady Dracula feel in love with the season of spring.
One thing I know is-I WANT ME SOME YAMAMOTO!
