Sarah Burton, the mastermind behind Alexander McQueen was in this film about the Alexander McQueen Spring 2012 collection.
The collections was magnificent, not unlike the fall 2011 collection she designed under the brands label. Her use of lace masks was unusual and unique, but upon closer inspection of the McQueen brand and past shows it became clear to me that the lace mask was actually used in a previous collection. I think it is spectacular, if not a bit expected that Burton is taking from McQueen’s past and expanding on it. Though don’t get too worked up about the thought of Sarah taking from Lee McQueen’s ideas, the current head designer was there with McQueen back in the day, when he was creating these pieces so in a way they were hers as well.
Side note, if you didn’t know, Sarah Burton won the award designer of the year at the 2011 British fashion Awards.
