At the British Fashion Awards yesterday there were some serious wins and some seriously great looks.
Sarah Burton walked home with the coveted BFC Designer of the Year award for her work with Alexander McQueen (Well earned!). She was quoted as saying:
“This feels like the icing on the cake on a really amazing year”
Sir Paul Smith, winner of the Outstanding Achievement Award for 2011 (though he was not present to accept the award).
Victoria Beckham took the Designer Brand award for her infamous clothing line but not before nearly sobbing before her acceptance speech where she admitted said:
“I’m sorry I’m so rubbish”
“Without David I would not have had the courage to do what I am doing.”
Alexa Chung rocked the navy carpet (not red as suspected) with her sparkly vest and white shift dress. Perhaps this is why she won the British Style award (over Pippa Middleton).
A very somber Stella McCartney used her Red Carpet award in place of a fashionable clutch. Her gray long-sleeved jumper looked very complimentary to her sleek trophy.
In the emerging talent section there was Mary Katrantzou for Ready-to-wear, Tabitha Simmons for Accessories, and Christopher Raeburn for menswear. At the British Fashion Awards, the top model award went to Stella Tennant who looked super sleek in her very low-cut tux inspired pantsuit/jumper.
Some of the other winners were Kim Jones for the Menswear Designer award, Sam Gainbury for the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator, Charlotte Olympia for the Accessory Designer award, and Christopher Kane for the New Establishment award.
Though the winners are all very special in their own unique way, attention must be paid to the attendees and Navy carpet best dressed. There are some repeats here!
