His collection for Burberry Prorsum was a collaboration of delightful bows that were used to decorate the waists of the jackets, Python accented accessories in vibrant colors, and streamlined silhouettes.
There was no shortage of fur in the Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall 2012 collection. In fact when a fur collar could be added, it was. In one look the model was lugging around a merlot croc bag that was literally larger than her torso. These pieces will definitely drum up some controversy but fur definitely seems to be a trend this season.
Little House on the Praire called and they want their prints back. From owls, to autumn leaves the Prorsum collection is ripe with dreamy prints that take you to a place with fewer worries and simpler times. Some of the prints inspire a revolt against technology but then again Christopher Bailey’s collections always have two sides to them and the other face of this collection embraces diversity and a wilder side even if only through the swerving seams.
Bailey’s counter balance was a super sleek look that is long, slender, and clean cut. One dress in particular in olive green had a ruched front section that spread out to envelop the bottom twelve inches of the hemline which ended just below the knee. This kind of swirling ruching continued throughout the dresses, skirts, and dress jackets in velvet, chord, nylon, and wool.
For evening wear Bailey designed full length gowns that were very elegant and made from muted colored silks. Ruching and pintuck gathers took over the top half of dresses while the steady streamlined look prevailed on all of the dresses from hip to floor.
Though the latest addition to the Burberry Prorsum line was shot as a look book and not shown on a runway making it difficult to get a firm grasp on the flow of the material, the looks were captured in a way that outlines their silhouettes in an extreme way. Salability is always one thing that Burberry does correctly and sales will definitely come out of this very well put together Pre-Fall 2012 fashion collection.
