Cristal and Couture
When it comes to feeling good, and I mean… REALLY good; there is only two things I trust explicitly. Cristal champagne, and haute couture. When you’re sad, they’re there. When you’re happy, they’re there. When you turn old enough to vote (and drink)… they’re there. I’d like to take the next two minutes of your life and regale you of all the great things that came from champagne and high fashion. Some facts, some tails but all are fascinating.
Did you know that Cristal was made exclusively for Alexander II of Russia and was the first prestige cuvée (AKA Prestigious Vat or Tank (batch of wine)). Do you enjoy chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines? Would you ever mix them? That’s that Cristal is! 55% pinot and 45% Chardonnay. Cristal is also considered a Veblen good, meaning it’s in its own category of economics. Its exclusivity and reputation drive the want and desire to buy the buoyant bubbly drink. Maybe because of all the bloggers writing about it… oops.
Now, couture, let’s face it… when buying a €150,000 gown, the fashion house will offer you a glass of bubbly. Coincidence? I know not! The fact that high class bubbles go hand in hand with high class fashion is too obvious a collaboration. Take the LVMH company for example. If you break it up – LV=Louis Vuitton MH=Moet Hennessy Fashion and Champagne! Fabulous. The LVMH group also owns major champagne player Veuve ClicQuot alongside couturiers Givenchy, and Christian Dior!
Where there is fashion, and people who appreciate fashion, there will be champagne. So Կէնաձդ, Proost, Mabuhay, Santé, Zum wohl, Эрүүл мэндийн төлөө, Na zdrowie, Chok dee and CHEERS to good health, looking as amazing as you do, and finishing your drink while owning up to the fact that a little haute couture never hurt anybody.
