This is a Warning Post For All You Stylish Travelers
I’m sure for many this will seem like common sense but for some checking your luggage is second nature… regardless of the brand… I’m here to style your luggage checking habits as well as your luggage purchasing trends.
Easy as 1, 2, 3!
- Never check expensive luggage! – Checked luggage is for people who travel in commercial planes. Luggage handlers don’t know if it’s a Pegase 65 with glossy monogram leather in rouge fauviste and here’s an interesting piece of information… they don’t care that it’s a Pegase 65 with glossy monogram leather in rouge fauviste they just want to get it on and off the plane as quickly as humanly possible. The tossing and rough handling that will and does occur to your luggage when you travel is worse than you think. Never Check expensive luggage!
- Don’t buy expensive luggage if you know you have to check your luggage! – Check with the company that you’re flying with to find out the maximum dimensions they allow carry-on bags to be. If you are going on a trip that requires you to have a LOT of stuff (and you’re flying commercial) then buy a good quality piece of luggage that isn’t made to look nice but rather is built for durability.
- Luggage should be practical unless you have your own plane. – Go ahead and buy the most fabulous studded full sized leather luggage made of fur for all I care but make sure it’s going in the cabin of the plane and occupying a seat right beside you.
Good brands to invest in for quality (“ugly” or *not so pretty) luggage are:
Atlantis, Heys, Briggs & Riley, Delsey and miscellaneous. I say misc. because the luggage you buy from vendors on the street may last a few years but you really get what you pay for.
