Handbag Trends from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week
New York Fashion Week is wrapping p tomorrow and soon everyone and their fashionable dog will be off to London to experience the madness that London Fashion Week has to offer. But don’t think that this is time to hang up your Proenza Schouler PS1 just yet… there are still all the fabulous after parties to attend to as well as compiling all the trend research and submitting all your purchase orders for Fall 2012.
Though London offers a much different kind of fashion than Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, it is just as eye popping and is getting more exciting by the day. Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney both said that they would show their collections to the Brits who attend the lovely London shows. So if you are in fact off to London have a blast! But for those of you who are interested in what New York had to offer in terms of hot handbags keep reading.
I am going to start with my favorite trend so far this year which is the furry bag trend! A handbag wasn’t traditionally covered in fur but I feel that it only makes sense seeing as how, as children, we all love to hug our stuffed animals and squeeze anything cuddly but as adults it is seen as perverted or just an overall unpopular move. The frry bag is your answer. This trend has been seen at so many shows this season including Z Spoke by Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Cynthia Rowley, Oscar de la Renta, Diane von Furstenberg, and many more. You know it’s a trend when!
The next handbag trend would be the angular clutch. Often times evening choices for handbags are left out but not here my friend! I love all (nice) handbags!
So even though this handbag trend could actually be worn during the day because of the materials chosen such as pebbled leather, patent leather, and exotic skins, because of the size, I am calling it evening. These trendy little bags have been seen at Victoria, Victoria Beckham in structured little rectangles as well as her mainstay collection Victoria Beckham in excessively thin clutches, Oscar de la Renta in flask shaped clutches, Michael Kors with a hand strap, and small handheld satchels shaped like foldabe flat squares.
The giant sac! This is the last huge handbag trend seen so far from the shows in New York at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week for 2012 and it means hoarders everywhere are throwing parties. Why hoard miscellaneous nonsensical things in your home when you can cram them into a giant sac and cart it around with you? Such hoarding treasure troves have been seen at Marc Jacobs,RAD by Rad Hourani, and Alexander Wang.
There you have it a little something for everyone. I will edit this post and add to it as the Fashion Weeks progress.
