Ok Gaga’s little monsters, mother monster is about to get the fashion tribute of a lifetime. It was announced on Wednesday March 16, 2011 that Lady Gaga will be receiving the CFDA’s Style Icon Award.
This honor is no surprise and many trendsetters and fashion watchers have been waiting for this moment. Gaga is the same icon who has worn some of fashions most shocking garments the world has seen since the late Isabella Blow. From the legendary ‘meat dress’ designed by Franc Fernandez, to a nun in latex with band-aids on her nipples, she is fearless.
Gaga has graced the covers of some of the worlds most prestigious magazines from Vanity Fair in Armani Prive, to most recently, American Vogue. She has taken on the runway for Viktor & Rolf and Thierry Mugler. I think it is safe to say the runway will never be the same.
You can say what you want, and compare Gaga to who you want but she is without a doubt an original. I think the world is so lucky to be here, in the now witnessing THE Gaga.
Marc Jacobs, designer at large was also nominated by the CFDA and will be Honored with the Style Icon Award. How fitting, this man is the rebel of the fashion industry, and Gaga the fashion enigma, I guess bad boys and fearless women really do always win when it comes to the runway.
