Riccardo Tisci is the main man when it comes to making Givenchy a household name and consistently creating beautiful fashion presented in the most interesting venues.
This Spring 2012 haute couture collection which featured the world’s top models and most detailed pieces, was shot in a school gymnasium. The contrast of the worn gym equipment against the ornate pieces was a nice stage for a couture photo shoot but the basketball net hanging above was unusual to say the least.
Setting the stage of any show is always a unique challenge and getting it right is often as important as the collection itself. Rccardo Tisci obviously meant to showcase the style of the line as a blast into traditional all-star Americana sporting equipment couture style. Stars were seen heat stamped into crocdile leather symbolizing team jerseys, and tank tops were worn under elegantly beaded blouses that were transparent mimicking the man’s tank under a perforated sports jersey.
All in all the way the inspiration was translated out was impeccable and couldn’t be achieved by anyone other than Tisci. He is a brilliant man with a brilliant future and he will do very well at the house of Givenchy, or Dior, or wherever he ends up.
