How To Show Your Pride In the Office
So it’s that time of year where gay men run wild, clothing is optional and having rainbow everything is considered “the norm” and even encouraged. But for those of us who are confined by our professions to be restrained by the binding threads of clothing… I have an ingenious idea as how to be loud and proud, while remaining stylish and following the dress code.
Wear one color of the rainbow each day of the week. I don’t mean an entire suit… (Although that would be super cool) but more like a tie, pocket square, socks or shirt color. Solids or prints it doesn’t matter, just as long as the colors coincide with the colors of the gay pride flag and are worn in the order they appear on the flag. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue and finally purple.
To be honest, pride is more about pushing the boundaries of equality than getting a spray tan and wearing a pride flag as a cape. But spreading the love and celebration in a way that coincides with your businesses dress code (during the day at least) is really what this whole thing is about in the first place… being yourself.
Some of the best solid ties you can get are from the most obvious places including large retailers like Saks, Nordstrom and Barneys as well as many large fashion houses including Giorgio Armani, Prada, and Burberry.
Of course, there are many fast fashion companies that will complete your pride ready day look with a solid colored pocket puff or tie like H&M, Le Chateau, Express Men and Topman. Bust out this Pride season with your unabashed, indiscreet pride flag pocket square and tie!
Oh and don’t forget to match your socks with your junty tie, pocket square or shirt.
