While John Galliano is going through the early stages of his trial in Paris, his house still lives on, without him.
This past week, during Paris Fashion Week, the John Galliano Homme Collections took to the runway, with a new Creative Director at its helm, Bill Gaytten. Gaytten has been Galliano’s ‘right hand man’ for the past 23 years at the John Galliano label.
Before his 23 years as Galliano’s predecessor, Gaytten studied at the Bartlett School of Architecture. It seems he is the most fitting successor of the Great Galliano. Who better to carry on the vision of the founder of the label than the man who watched him build it from the early years into the empire it has become today.
So there you have it, it is official, LVMH will not be hiring John Galliano back. And so the news has broken, the models have taken to the runway, and we are without the theatrical bow from the man himself.
We wish Bill Gaytten all the best as the new Creative Director of such a wonderful label, and hope that the mastermind behind the label will find a way back up from his fall from grace.
