Steaming Pile of Ke$ha
Although I’m Canadian I thought I would comment on the recent V Magazine cover featuring Ke$ha with an American flag painted across her face. Though I think her style is the epitome of scary I have to give her credit for… oh wait, no I don’t. I think her music is subpar and getting in the cover of V for the Americana issue makes a statement that I don’t really agree with. Why isn’t Madonna on there, or Janet Jackson, or Jennifer Hudson? Heck even Britney Spears would be better at least she is making a comeback.
The last fashionable thing Ke$ha did was ask her fans to send in their spare teeth (yeah you read that correctly) so she could make a necklace out of them. Then as any half-cocked crazy person does she said she’ll wear it on her tour. I actually think I just vomited in my mouth a little bit. Gross. But alas there she is on one of the most fashion forward magazines around teeming with American spirit and wearing her pride on her face.
The one redeeming quality about this whole photo shoot is the way in which it was shot. I love the angles and the way the lighting was done (either on set or added afterwards). The shadows and the way the plain old grey wall was used on the back was very interesting. Also I like her polish. The nails play.
I suppose I’ll have to wait until May 10th to find out what the article is about so I can see why photographer Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin chose to use Ke$ha for their cover. Until then it all seems like a big pile of red, white, and bullsh*t.
Who would you have liked to see on the cover instead?
