How To Style A Light Grey Blazer
I was off to meet a friend for a coffee date and needed something nice but springy. This light grey jacket was one of the first I saw this spring season and actually one of the nicest. The fit and price was bang on so I picked it up and it’s living in my closet right now. BUT, what do you wear with this light colored sport coat? What colors go with light grey and how can you incorporate the latest trends with it?
Grey is one of those colors that works well with a number of shades most of which aren’t… well… grey. Go bright or go home. A bold jewel toned shirt, pocket square, contrast soled chukka or even a striking colored pant pairs nicely with a lighter more subdued jacket. Courageous colors stand strong under a jacket but if the adventurous road of dressing isn’t for you then keep reading for lighter options.
Pale colors like salmon, olive, lavender, periwinkle and sky blue are options that are calmer and often more casual. A check shirt is not only a smart choice for dressing but a bangin trend right now. Go to any hipster populated area and you’ll find a wealth of criss-crossing stripes of various colors and tartans.
I added a small silk flower to the lapel to dress it up a bit but chose grey to keep it subtle. I tried a pastel coral flower and it was just a little too much. Too matchy-matchy and not at all what I was going for. If you’re adding an embellishment keep it simple and straight forward. Add flourish with understatement and outfit with subtlety.
