Okay this is Crazy! Marc Jacobs must feel under attack lately with all this bad luck happening to him and the fashion houses he designs for.
The roller-coaster all started when the Marc Jacobs Spring 2012 collection gets stolen off of a train while on a routine transfer from Paris to London for a press event. The London press got this E-mail from the people at Marc Jacobs:
Our press day tomorrow in the Marc Jacobs store is cancelled due to the theft of the spring/summer 2012 collections during its transfer from Paris.
Then Marc Jacobs was featured on South Park as one of Cartman’s dolls (which is melted later on in the episode) but none-the-less Marc Jacobs was absolutely thrilled with the whole thing andended up getting the “Muscle Man Marc” doll tattooed on himself! He was elated with the fact that the South Park creators would do this and even said to press:
That’ll be my next tattoo, the Muscle Man Marc from South Park,” he said. “Honestly, without hesitation, it is the greatest honour, I mean, way above and beyond the CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award, beyond anything. It’s like, to be immortalised on South Park, I can die a happy man.
So obviously a very high high for MJ. Then just as he was getting over the whole $65,000 Marc Jacobs theft, Louis Vuitton is bombarded with masked men weilding guns at the Paris Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport location! This time, the thieves made the Marc Jacobs collection theft look like childsplay as the LV pieces stolen are worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $400,000! The men tossed the Vuitton into two trucks waiting in the back and sped off scott free.
The 5 employees that were held hostage at gunpoint no doubt let the thieves take whatever they wanted, (which is smart as the pieces are obviously insured) but none-the-less it must have been very tramatic and I hope Louis will compensate them a little… at least with a phsychologist.
I wonder what I would do if I was the first on the scene to a two truck rollover absolutely spilling with Louis Vuitton… I think I’d have a new handbag wardrobe. Too soon?
Well I hope Marc Jacobs and his team are okay and that the crooks are brought to justice.
Okay Crimestoppers time! If you know anything about this or have any kind of info regarding either the Marc Jacobs heist or the Louis Vuitton theft call 212-343-0222. There is a significant reward for anyone who gives them info that leads to the arrest of the perps.
Do you think that this is a personal vendetta against Marc Jacobs? Or just a sign that LVMH needs to beef up their security?
