Mackage Fall Winter 2013
The Mackage team always make me smile from their inventive collection of inspired looks chock full of leather and more trendy and fashion forward than the season before. Their clothing is obviously what makes their collection so good but it’s their growth from season to season that is so incredible.
I remember a long time ago when I first saw a Mackage piece. I was selling clothes at a boutique and this short trench coat hit the floor, all in leather, one in yellow, the other white. And they were $500.00. Everyone loved them. At least one thing has remained consistent throughout the history of Mackage, their ability to garner fandom… Well that and their aptitude at constructing fabulous leather pieces.
The thing that really gets me is the way the models are styles on the runway. So edgy with leather pants/leggings and shorts placed overtop in wool creating a layered effect. The look was hot and everyone in the audience swooned over the sexy show. I was sitting front row beside Stacey Mackenzie who was so proud of “her girl” (model Li Ming) who admiringly looked fierce on the catwalk at World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto.
The collection was a mix of tartan skirts, plush fur scarves and leather everything. It appeared to be lamb leather more than anything else but no one’s complaining there. The luscious hyde was used on pants, skirts, tops, and of course jackets. Pairing them together was as simple as layering leather with leather, or slipping a layer of fur or checkered wool in-between the trendy leather pieces Mackage is so known for.
To wrap this up I want you to know that when attempting to pull off the leather trend for Fall 2013 it’s obvious who you should invest in. Mackage, for a leather filled wonderland.
