Christopher Bailey has been working overtime on his Menswear fashion collection for Spring 2012.
Yes I JUST wrote about the men’s Burberry resort collection, and yes there were some similarities between the two but no more than any other fashion collection season after season.
A lot of blue was seen on the runway as Burberry delivered look after look from all blue, to blue hats, to just a dash of blue on some very Aztec inspired geometrical prints. Seafoam to dark royal blue it was by far the color to look for. Even Mr. Bailey was wearing blue as he walked out for his applause.
The styles of coats were from duffle, to double breasted, Parka to (of course) trench. Lengths all over the map but most notably the shorter style blazers cut clean around so they could transition from the office right into an evening look with a cool pair of denim.
I feel as though Burberry took a page out of the Prada book this go around by using very loose fitting jackets and strong stripes. The other element that was close to Prada was the shoes. Though we poked fun at the Prada creepers Burberry has jumped heavily on board and incorporated the thick soled busy body shoes that were hit and miss last season.
Though Christopher Bailey is a visionary that knows how to go into the archives of Thomas Burberry and use elements of styles past and transform them into saleable products that become a hit today, I hope he knows what he is doing this season.
