Lime, Bright pink, and Zebra… there you have seen the entire Michael Kors Resort 2012 Collection.
This season was all about being active in Australia. After Michael Kors took a nice vacation to Australia he took in the warmth and sport of what being in a hot climate was like and played on the differences between North American Culture and Australian day-to-day life. North American culture is filled with wool and silk but in Australia the materials are more neoprene and spandex, definitely more technical because of the sports and ability to perform such sports outdoors because of the weather.
Michael Kors obviously noticed this and played on it because almost every piece was made entirely of one technical material or another and most of the looks were actually full on surfer suits or sport wear that could be worn to an intense volleyball game or a relaxing time on the beach.
The other half of the collection was oddly shaped jackets that had three quarter length sleeves and very straight cut bodies with no waist or particularly strong silhouette. Though one specific Zebra printed dress had a high defined waist with a black belt that emphasized it. Another dress that stood out was a black scoop neck dress with circular cut outs on the sides and gold accessories for the belt and cuffs. The whole dress was very beautiful and could be worn to a gala but still had an extremely sporty feel to it.
The evening wear was mostly comprised of a shimmering gold fabric was cut into almost every evening look imaginable from an unfitted three quarter length jacket, gold zebra flood pants and a gold sweater with perpendicular stripes, another jacket with three quarter sleeves and patch pockets, and a thin lapel one button unfitted jacket with a gold on gold pleated skirt above the knee.
- The Michael Kors Resort 2012 fashion collection was (in this fashion journalists point of view) less than desirable and I honestly think the sales will come from the immense fan base that Michael Kors has accumulated over the years. Those and the retail Michael Kors specialists set up throughout the country working hard to push the Michael Kors vision and brand. A lot of these pieces will sell as separates. A pant here, a skirt there but overall this line will be a red pen killer – A.K.A. it will use so much red ink for the markdowns that red pens everywhere will try to hide themselves in stationary stores across the globe.
