The Michael Kors men’s line took us to the middle of a dessert with sun pelting down and a burning need to skin a croc and wear its hide.
The collection really focused on texture, by showing very rough slabs of crocodile used as the messenger style cross-body strap and in another case Michael Kors used hand dyed silk to make a mid calf skirt. The men’s skirt is nothing new and is really taking off in many more mainstream collections (click for how to wear a men’s skirt). Chunky knits that appeared to billow and hang off the body were shown in colors of white smoke and pale brown.
Bright orange was a trend for this collection and many others that showed during the Spring 2012 season. In turtlenecks, dip dyed pants and scarves, belts, bags, and jackets, orange is the new black! So when out shopping, pick up a pile of orange as it will most certainly be the pop color for spring.
The shoes worn during the fashion show were sandals made of strong smooth leather straps that gave a casual yet clean look. Not that it is a surprise, but Kors always styles his accessories in a cohesive way matching black leathers together or all brown leathers together. This styling tip should be taken seriously and adhered to at every opportunity.
The pieces in the collection will likely be quite expensive as many of the accessories are in crocodile and the materials used in the rest of the Michael Kors Spring 2012 collection are of the highest quality. Long story short, they will be worth every penny.
