Congratulations are in order for MIUCCIA PRADA , after it was announced that she is back on the billionaire list at Fornes’. Going public and taking the leap to put the iconic fashion house on the Hong Kong stock exchange in January last yearhas certainly done Prada and Miuccia some good for their financials. This top dog of the fashion industry is said to worth $6.8billion (£4.3 billion), ranking at 139 in the world’s billionaire list. Miuccia’s husband…Mr Prada? and the brand’s CEO Patrizio Bertelli is worth $3.7 billion (£2.34 billion). Not a bad net worth, thogether they could almost pull itally as whole out of economic crisis…one wonders if they pay taxes the Dolce way…# Bazinga.
Forbes.com’s The World’s Richest People 2001: “She and her husband, Patrizio Bertelli, took over the family-owned luxury goods manufacturer in 1978. Since then, they’ve turned it into a fashion powerhouse, acquiring Jil Sander, Helmut Lang and shoemaker Church & Co.” Prada is a collector of contemporary art and owns several artworks by Young British Artists (YBAs) including Damien Hirst. In 2002, she opened a contemporary art space, Fondazione Prada, which exhibits work by various international artists. Prada announced the winner of the 2010 Turner Prize and after falling off the Forbes in 2006 (for being a lowly hundred millionaire) she is back on top. Now if only she’d stop wearing socks in sandals.
