Paris fashion week kicked off today with the relaunch of the Thierry Mugler mens fashion collection. Unlike Milan, Paris fashion week always seems so much more electric. The crowd outside was excited and their seemed to be a buzz in the air, following the crowd inside I was anxious to see how Nicola Formichetti (creative director) and Romain Kremer (the designer of the mens line) worked together on the runway show…mostly I was super excited to see what Lady Gaga did for the show.
All in all, my hat is off to Thierry Mugler and the team AKA: Mugler (moving forward the line has shortened the name to simply: Mugler…I guess its edgy). The show had a wonderful hard edge and a touch of drama, with the use latex, tattoos and puffy stylized veils on the models. The clothes themselves were very commercial without selling out. Hooded top coats, some extra shine on a tux, fun with zippers in unusual places and cool cuts of sweaters without destroying the silhouette…. It was the perfect combination of artistic expression and saleability.
Despite the fact that Lady Gaga was not at the show(tears) the music was in keeping with Gaga’s standards (so pretty good), in short: between the energy, the runway, clothes and music we have ourselves one hell of a show. Go team.
