One of the big shows at LG Fashion Week was the Pink Tartan Spring 2012 show. So much commotion, so much hype, and so many great models.
Overall I wasn’t over the moon about the collection as I found it WAY to safe and somewhat boring. I think the use of Andrej Pejic was somewhat out of desperation to make the collection seem a bit rough or rugged or something. Anyway it didn’t work. Andrej looked great as usual, and I loved the somewhat transparent shirt he wore as a girl, but why? The collection was all feminine and very mainstream… so where does Andrej fit in? Poor casting if you ask me. If you are going to use Andrej make him into a beacon of androgyny and for lack of a better word… cooler. I have to applaud Sid Neigum for his creativity and expert styling of Pejic.
Other than the styling of the models, the collection was salable, wearable, and I’m sure Holt Renfrew and other major retailers will be all about it. That being said I’m sure a lot of shoppers will like it as well. Not that the price is great, or that the clothes are amazing, but they fit well into that contemporary shoppers acceptable range and the line makes a point to nail certain trends on the head. Even if some of those trends are from last season.
