Raf Simons Replaces John Galliano at Dior
WOW So it is official Raf Simons is officially announced as the face for Dior! This brilliant visionary is taking the lead in a long line of great successors for the Christian Dior label. He is in fact the sixth person to take charge of the Dior line and will hopefully lead the line to a profitable year for the LVMH group. Thing is… The LVMH group needs someone who will design like Dior, Soiree like Dior, and drum up sales like Dior like no other including John Gallinao and Bill Gaytten (replacement for John Galiano for the last year the Christian Dior label has been without a Couture or Ready-to-wear designer).
There is no doubt that Raf Sions has the ability to respect and adhere to a lines history and be able to hold his own and produce clothing that is in-line with his own fashion forward ideas and inspirations. In a recent press release Raf said “My aim is a very modern Dior, but at the end of the day, I also look back.” He continued on in more depth about the specifics of what inspired him about the house and said, “I find the period between 1947 and 1957 extremely attractive, that there was a lot of modernity,” he said. “There was the romantic appeal looking back to his mother and the belle époque, but there was also a constant evolution in shape, changing proportions and the ideas connected to the World War were revolutionary.”
Raf went on to speak about his future life at Dior and his passion for the line stating: “It is with the utmost respect for its tremendous history, its unparalleled knowledge and craftsmanship that I am joining the magnificent house of Dior.” He went on to say, “Mr Christian Dior has always been for me the most inspiring couturier. Around the globe, the name Dior symbolizes the ultimate in elegance and refinement. I am truly humbled and honored to become artistic director of the most celebrated French house in the world.”
That says it all and after a long arduous process all the fashioninsta’s everywhere can take a breathe while the new Artistic Director at Dior takes his place and produces the next fabulous collection we are all hoping to love.
