Roksanda Ilincic Chats About Her Spring 2013 Collection
This may be the first time some of you have heard about this diamond in the ruff designer, but Roksana Ilincic is definitely someone you should get to know. And if you are familiar with her, she has out shone herself by creating a collection that both encapsulates her feminine feel as well as her ability to capitalize on her background which is architecture. Knowing this and seeing her clothing I suppose I somewhat expected her to be a little more stern and quick but instead found a woman of statuesque poise with gentle demeanor. Her gracious mannerisms were trumped only by her knowledge of fashion and design, for when she spoke about her collection there was no mistake, Ilincic is a groundbreaking designer who deserves her moment in the spotlight.
I won’t lie and say “I’ve always wanted to meet her” or that “I’ve followed her since her introduction to fashion in 2000,” but I will say I’m glad I did and will now pay close attention to her career as one of London’s premiere designers.
Her vision is colorful, flowing and full of femininity (not unlike herself). I highly encourage you to seek her out and steal a look and feel at her designs in stores for a few reasons, but here are my top three reasons:
1. The line is full of crepe fabrics which have always peeked my interests and are a dream to wear.
2. Her designs are like living, breathing pieces of art. The Spring 2013 collection seems a bit more towards the Josef Albers side of things, meaning “rigid […], and precise” according to Roksanda.
3. The dresses are comfortable and will work well with floppy hats from the seventies… and who doesn’t love floppy hats from the seventies?
