Her story started when she was just 16 as a model in the Netherlands. After a short stint she decided to go back to school and study Art, after a clandestant meeting with a photographer she decided to try out modelling once more and was embraced by open arms by the industry. When you come across a story on Saskia I reccomend reading the comments, anyone who has met her says the same thing… she is beautiful beyond words and is the nicest person you will ever meet.
Those are certainly compliments I would like circling around about me!
The truth is, de Brauw is an refreshing anomaly in the modelling world and as people are embracing plus sized models and androgynous models, or transgender models, the lines are being blurred and beauty is no longer being relegated to a 34 24 34 or the under 22 year age ceiling. Fashion is ever evolving and the sphere of beauty is becoming more and more broad.
Every snowflake is unique, but each one is undoubtedly angelic. Not that everyone can be a model, but the worlds 11th most powerful model breaks the mold of stereotypical beauty in terms of the modelling world’s archaic standards.
Models are 5’10” have the ideal measurements of 34-24-34 and are usually between the ages of 16-24. There is a new girl in town and she is taking the high fashion world by storm but there is something different about her… she is 30!
Saskia de Brauw is a favorite of Chanel, Vogue, Max Mara, V Magazine, Givenchy, Lanvin, Rick Owens, Versace, and the list goes on and on. Her short time in the modeling scene has afforded her some of the most highly coveted spots in fashion. But why? Where did this model come from?
Saskia de Brauw is a Dutch beauty that inspires the very essence of androgyny from the severely pronounced bone structure and strong jaw bone to the long slenderness of her face and short hair that Saskia is now known for, she is everything the couture fashion world is looking for right now. When couture came knocking, de Brauw answered with open arms and an open mind. One would have to because of the aggressive state of the modeling industry.
It can assumed that had Saskia not been spotted by a makeup artist at a party and then consequently gone to Paparazzi Models where she was signed, she would have a hard time getting her foot in the door. Though agencies are not supposed to look at age, it is a known fact that the year you were born is one of the first things they ask when you walk in the door of any agency and if the age is older than 20 you are not likely to get a call back.
This really proves that you only have to have the look of the minute and seemingly regardless of age, you can be a super star and in the pages of nearly all the fashion mags worth reading.
