Temperley London Cruise 2013
If there is one thing Alice Temperley is a seasoned pro at, it is creating the perfectly perfect english suburb Sunday looks that relish in the pomp and circumstance of what it means to be dignified. Her designs will make even the most lobotomized Stepford wife squeel with joy and curtsy just the right amount. But there is a hidden joy in these garments that stretches beyond the viscose material and is more extraordinary than the small details that are never overlooked on a Temperley piece.
A silk stretch of fabric that is sliced up into strips and crafted to be the piping on a skirt; one detail that could have been overlooked to pinch a pence, but like a great Yorkshire pudding, the overall greatness comes from time and effort. And the effort is ever present in every Temperley piece. From lace seeves, to micro pleates on blouses and tops the theme was patience and the result was Knotting-Hill meets Red Carpet with a dash of Greek thrown in on some of the silhouettes.
There was a 50’s feel to the silhouettes near the beginning of the daywear portion of the show but as the looks turned to evening the looks were high maintenance and elegant. There is this sweeping trend that draws on old Hollywood and takes the greatest women it had to offer, wrapped in silk, and served up on a polished silver Lazy Susan.
Another great collection from Alice Temperley that has shown the world that she is in the favor of the Middleton’s but does not need to be to continue her incredible success.
