Thakoon Addition Spring Summer 2013 New York Fashion Week
Where last season stood a fully clad woman in denim now stands a fully clothed woman in a denim-like material. Chambray and silk blend draw in the eye to a pale blue upscale faux-denim. This may be a diffusion line for the talented Thakoon but his materials and methods of construction are not at all second rate.
Fun prints dance along a wired covered floor simulating that the models are more women behind the scenes than those who should be present in the front row. These are working girls and their mission is clear. Look great while putting forth their expertise in their respected fields. A step away from the pretty bombshell that is cute first and smart second.
The pop color was a bold tangerine that often had eylettes cut from the peplum dresses and bubble skirts making the whole line scream summer chic. Another common silhouette was the airy double layered dress. The top would billow out like a balloon adding dimension to the silhouette in a way the fall 2012 collections attempted to do with the peplum.
Floral prints, denim inserts, and full silhouettes made the Thakoon Addition show a crowd favorite here at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week here in New York.
