The Attraction of Mini Handbags

Tiny is the New Black

Mini handbags are taking over in a big way… get it. BWAHAHA (*wipes a tear). Gone are the days when oversized handbags rule the runway and welcome to a new nano world of miniaturized handbags where the rule “The bigger the better” really doesn’t apply. Size, in fact, does matter… but it must be no larger than 10″ in any dimension length, width, or height.

The orange Celine Nano Luggage bag shown above is one of my all time favorite handbags and when it’s minified the face just looks SO CUTE! “The face”??? Oh don’t look at me like that! As if you’ve never seen it.

SEE!

But Celine’s not the only brand that’s jumped on the mini handbag phenomenon. Louis Vuitton turned it’s classic Alma bag into a super adorable micro satchel called the Alma BB. And it comes in a rainbow of colors.

Prada, Chanel and Fendi have also jumped on the miniscule bandwagon and put in the effort to make this world a little cuter.

But don’t let the size fool you, these bags pack a wallop when it comes to the bankbook. But why?

The craftsmanship that goes into these mini bags is equal to, if not more intensive than making a larger version. The material costs of these bags is high but it is not the sole driving force when it comes to pricing. The labor and hours of cutting and sewing remain the same. so when you’re looking at a small designer handbag, make sure your budget remains the same if not a little higher.

I wanted to show you this last image because 1. it’s so fricken dainty and delightful BUT 2. It’s a total knock-off. Hermes actually never made a mini Birkin so don’t be fooled when shopping on Ebay etc.

You are quite wrong. Hermes did make a mini Birkin, now whether or not the one you are showing in your picture is authentic or not is an entirely different matter.

      Hey xxdeucexx,
Wow I totally botched that one didn’t I…
Yup there it is hanging off the arm of a model during the SS/11 designed by Jean Paul Gaultier. Fantastic.
