Balmain Fall 2013 Is Quilted, Waxed and Buckled For Your Pleasure
The feelings of terror and electric excitement that barrelling down an autobahn would elicit, were the exact feelings I had when shopping the Fall 2013 Balmain collection. I am now obsessed with quilted moto jackets, waxed motorcycle pants and harem styled bottoms thanks to the in-your-face attitude of the Balmain fall line designed by Olivier Rousteing. Picking my top ten was exceedingly difficult until I took a look at what pieces of the line were sold online. The ornate pieces can’t all make it to the sales floor but from those that did, it was easier to pick. Here are my Top Ten Pieces from the Men’s Balmain Fall 2013 collection.
1. The Embroidered Tuxedo
This jacket is hand embroidered with a what looks like a dragon emblem going down the shawl lapels. The workmanship is painstakingly beautiful and obviously takes this piece to the next level making it my number one pick of the Balmain collection this season.

Avoid road rash this fall by donning this studly leather. It’s worn look and handwashed finish leave it looking vintage which is perfect for fooling city slickers when clocking its mileage.
Price Tag – $3900
3. The Quilted Leather
The late seventies and early eighties taught us that a great leather jacket is the single most important thing in your closet. I’m convinced that no leather can stand beside Balmain’s quilted leather jacket in black. It may be a couple mortgage payments but damn it, it’s worth it!

4. The Basic Black
Sometimes I don’t feel like getting attention on the street from wearing a loud jacket in red leather or glossy black so instead I rely on basic black jackets like this one for warmth and style. Sometimes incognito is in your best interest.
Price Tag – $3360
5. The Motorcycle Pant
Red is a theme this season and I’m no stranger to the martial color so when I saw these pants I knew it was love at first sight. Mind you that was back in January so I’ve been holding out for these pants for a REALLY LONG TIME! the pants could have been leather but instead are a waxed denim making them really special and seriously less expensive.
Price Tag – $1100
6. The Leather Harem Pant
Harem pants aren’t reserved exclusively for Justin Bieber! I love the loose fit of this style of pant but I have to admit you have to be careful not to look like you have a diaper butt… something Balmain is utterly brilliant at making it totally worth the price.
Price Tag – $3800
7. The Family Crest Accent
Without family we wouldn’t be around so paying tribute to that is not only respectable but it looks great too. This family crest (or semblance of) is an ode to tradition and timelessness.
Price Tag – $820
8. The Cummerbund
With a tuxedo jacket as number one you knew there would be a cummerbund somewhere in the mix. Thing is I probably wouldn’t wear them together. in fact, because of the relaxed quality of the belt I’ll probably wear it over a casual T-shirt.
Price Tag – $1330
9. The Red Hightops
Waxed suede… enough said
Price Tag – $1215
When suede meets metal a style icon is born. I believe this boot takes last seasons monk strap mania to the next level and introduces a whole new cool to menswear. I feel like these should be in every man’s closet for Fall 2013
Price Tag – $1235
