Vivienne Westwood Men’s Fall 2011 Fashion Collection This season Vivienne made a masterful collection, one that takes the mind on a trip far away from the everyday and well out of reach of the mundane. The styling of the show was fantastic with rouged lips and 1950’s gelled wavy hair so perfect that not a single hair was out of place.
The show was utter fantastico with a dash of mayhem. Loose slacks bunched at the top by thin belts. Instead of having the belt loops where they normally are on pants the loops were lower and more along the hips. The knitwear was accessorised with additional collars and the look of the models in suits with turtlenecks were sleek and fitted.
The casual jackets in the collection were ALL over the map. Some were sporty with flap pockets, and thick stripes down the arms of the sports like jacket, while others were made from a washed denim with flap pockets and a motorcycle collar. The wool styles were made in a way that makes you think gangster and high roller! The suits were mostly three pieces with wide collars and peak lapels. My favourite part of the suits was the coloring. There was everything from black to sandalwood brown and the workmanship was of the highest quality.
There was this powder blue vest and suit jacket paired with these awesome pants which had a super-short inseam with fabric the color of sand and the texture of water. The short inseam was reoccurring throughout the line and I imagine it will be a tough sell in stores. Not that it doesn’t look trendy or up with fashion but because the mainstream shoppers of Lafayette, Selfridges, Saks and Holt Renfrew will likely not understand it. Oh well more for me!!
Overall Loved the collection. These are the lines I love writing about when I already know JUST exactly what i want to buy at the store when it shows up in about a 9 months.
